Empirical Neutrino Mass Matrix Related to Up-Quark Masses
Based on an approach to quark and lepton masses, where the mass spectra originate in vacuum expectation values of U(3) flavor nonet (gauge singlet) scalars, neutrino masses and mixing are investigated. As an offshoot of this approach, it is found that an empirical neutrino mass matrix which is described in terms of the up-quark and charged lepton masses can accommodate to a nearly tribimaximal ...
متن کاملTHE ROLE OF QUARK POLARIZATION IN HEAVY QUARK FRAGMENTATION
We calculate the exact fragmentation functions for c and b quark fragmentation taking into account the spin orientation of the initial heavy quark in the form of analytical and rather simple expressions. Our calculations show that spin orientation may have an important effect on the fragmentation spectrum. This effect is more striking in the cases of c ?D, D*; c? ? , ? , and ?B , B *.
متن کاملMatrix Elements without Quark Masses on the Lattice
We introduce a new parameterization of four-fermion matrix elements which does not involve quark masses and thus allows a reduction of systematic uncertainties in physical amplitudes. As a result the apparent quadratic dependence of ǫ′/ǫ on ms(μ) is removed. To simplify the matching between lattice and continuum renormalization schemes, we express our results in terms of Renormalization Group I...
متن کاملUp Quark Masses from Down Quark Masses
The quark and charged lepton masses and the angles and phase of the CKM mixing matrix are nicely reproduced in a model which assumes O(3) ⊗ O(3) flavour symmetry broken by the v.e.v.’s of fields in its bi-fundamental representation. The relations among the quark mass eigenvalues, mu/mc ≈ mc/mt ≈ m2d/m2s ≈ m2s/m2b ≈ Λ2GUT/M2 Pl, follow from the broken flavour symmetry. Large tanβ is required whi...
